This is a video documenting a brilliant protest against the shameful and pathetic removal of the very important artwork “A Fire in My Belly” by David Wojnarowicz from the National Portrait Gallery.

The New Museum on Bowery in NYC has decided to screen the video work from now through January 23 2011, a noble and sympathetic action of protest.

Art is not meant to be censored. If you find a certain work of art distasteful or offensive, that was probably the intention. If your reaction was the intention of the artwork, your disapproval is proof that the work of art is indeed a great work of art.
